MODA BAKE SHOP - COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS - RIGHT HANDED MITTEN

Are you sewing along with Moda Bake Shop's Countdown to Christmas ~ Winter Frost?

If you are interested all the details, yardage, and blocks may be found here.

My layout is Snowy Peeks.  You may find the layout here

My first block for the quilt along is Festival of Friends.  The link to the pattern is here

My second block for the quilt along is Mitten.  The link to the pattern is here

A few quilters have wanted to reverse the mitten so that they may have a pair. So, I updated my pattern for the block to make it a "Right handed" mitten.  The file may be downloaded by clicking this LINK

Until next time...Happy Sewing & Happy Holidays!

Pillow Parade for the Best of Moda Bake Shop Book

Are you ready for another pillow as part of the pillow parade for  TheBest Of Moda Bake Shop Book!?!?!?

Each contributor created a pillow using a block from their quilt in the book and I am very excited to share mine with you, today.  My pillow features a block from the quilt, washi tape stars

I chose to quilt my pillow outlining the various elements of the block

This makes  one 16 inch pillow:

  • Make one washi tape stars 16 inch block as directed in the book. The unfinished block should measure 16.5 inches
  • Layer the Unfinished quilt block, batting, and some plain fabric, quilt as desired.

  • Trim the quilted quilt block and square it up
  • For the backing of the pillows I preferred the sham type method. Cut two 16.5 x 11” pieces of the fabric  to be used as backing for the pillow.
  • Fold under one 16.5 inch side of each piece 1/4 inch, press, and the fold and press down again at 1/2 inch. Top stitch to hold the edges down neatly.
  • With right side of the quilt block facing up, place the backing pieces over the quilt block, right sides together (you should have an over lap of backing fabric. Clip or pin in place. Stitch 1/4inch seam around.  I also zigzag around the edges to prevent fraying.
  • Flip you pillow right sides out,  press edges flat, top stitch 1/8 inch from edge of pillow if desired. Insert pillow form & TaDa!!

Clear Night Sky Quilt

Clear Night Sky Quilt is a wonderful scrap buster quilt.  For my version, I used scraps of quilts that I had mad in the pervious 12 months.

The quilt pattern for Clear Night Sky may be found in my Etsy shop as a downloadable PDF file.

So grab all those left over scraps and have fun!

The completed quilt measures 72 inches

Here's a peak at how I prepped by pieces while sewing together by blocks:

Here's a peak at my completed quilt top before it was quilted....

Here's a close up at the quilting....

And the finished quilt...

Until next time, stay safe...
