Riley Blake Mulberry Lane Project Tour

On today's Riley Blake Project Tour I am "visiting" a magical street created as a fabric collection, Mulberry Lane by Dodi Poulsen (@sashgal on Instragram).

Dodi states that this collection was inspired by the actual street where she grew up on in northern California. The collection is full of the feeling of home, safety, love, warmth, stability and promise with tiny houses, street signs, teeny tiny florals, and tiny heart prints.

This cozy collection inspired me to create a new quilt pattern called Shooting Stars,  It will be available in my Etsy shop soon.  Each Sawtooth star has three paths which it may choose to travel.

The pattern looks complicated, however it is actually very simple and it creates such a fun illusion.

Until next time ... happy sewing!

Riley Blake Project Tour - Featuring - Liberty Fabrics - The Artist's Home Collection

Liberty Fabrics has a wonderful new quilting fabric collection called The Artist's Home Collection.  This fabulous collection was inspired by the wonder and dreaminess of an artist's home.  It is filled with vibrant details, eclecticism and wonderful colors all meant to further inspire you.  Liberty's designers were influenced by historic homes, country side escapes, Yves Saint Laurent's Idyllic Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, Barbara Hepworth's sculpture studio and the gardens on the Cornish Coast.

This huge collection of fabrics from Liberty is divided into Watercolour Garden Collection, Painted Sunset Collection, and Sculpture Collection.  There are 15 prints in each collection.  I choose to work with Sculpture Collection to create a new quilt pattern called Brioche.  Laying out similar blocks diagonally from one another and flipping the direction of the blocks created an interesting affect as if the pieces of fabric were being braided almost like a loaf of Brioche bread.

This quilt is so much fun to make as it can all be cut out at once or in sets of five as well as it is a great quilt to chain piece.  (HINT - it's a fast make)

The digital download for Brioche may be purchased from my Etsy Shop HERE.

Here's close up of this fun and interesting quilt...

I truly hope that you will consider making a version of this quilt for someone special in your life or for yourself.  If you do make it, please post it on instagram and tag me @neverlandstitches

Until next time - Happy Sewing!

My Heart Belongs to my Farmer - Barbed Wire Quilt

In late November, I had the privilege of creating a quilt using Poppie Cottons, My Heart Belongs To My Farmer fabric Collection.

I created a new pattern which is a twist on my ChickenWire Quilt pattern.  ChickenWire, which was created with Poppie Cotton's Chick-A-Doodle-Doo is such a fun pattern creating an interesting weave affect.  ChickenWire is available in my Etsy Shop.  In that same theme,  Barbed Wire does the same, but is even easier to make.

Barbed Wire is now available in my Etsy Shop.

If you'd like both ChickenWire and BarbedWire I have a special package available in the shop which contains both patterns HERE.

Until Next Time - Happy Sewing!

Riley Blake Project Tour - Cooper

Stephanie Smokovich of Bella Blvd has designed the cutest new collection that is the "ultimutt" fabric collection for dog lovers called, Cooper.  I had so much fun designing this fun quilt called Puppy Love for a little boy in my family who's name is Cooper.  What a perfect match.  In the meantime, until the quilt is gifted, Blaze and Lady thought they would model the quilt.

The collection, Cooper, is full of busy little puppies and some sweet coordinating prints with paws, bones, words, and maybe some more busy puppies.  This "ultimutt" collection has uses a furtastic color palette of aqua, green, red, blue and black.

This quilt, Puppy Love, is the perfect gift for the little dog lover in your life.

Oh, did I mention that this is a free pattern?  Well, it is and you can click HERE to download the pattern.

If you make a version of this quilt, please tag me on Instagram as I would like to see your version.

Until next time ... Happy sewing!

Riley Blake Project Tour - Gingham Foundry

August also marks the release of another Riley Blake Fabric Collection from My Mind's Eye, Gingham Foundry.  this collection is refined and classic.  The color palette consists of navy, honey, mist, beehive, and cream.  The prints in the collection are florals, gingham, vines, stars, dots and text.

I used the tiny florals, text prints, stars, dots and vines in navy, honey, cream and mist along with a Vintage Blue Shades as the background to create a very sweet throw, Gingham Grannies, which is a modern twist on a granny square block.

The pattern for Gingham Grannies will be available in my   Esty Shop beginning September 12, 2021

This is a very easy pattern to piece as there are no flying geese, half square triangles or anything else "fancy"   Alternating colorways makes for an interesting quilt as does the non-traditional background fabric.

If you make this quilt, please tag me on Instagram so that I may see your version.

Until next time ... Happy Sewing!

Riley Blake Project Tour - Hope in Bloom

This month Riley Blake Designs releases a new collection by Katherine Lenius called Hope in Bloom.

Katherine has stated, "Hope in Bloom gathers up all the wishes I would share with those who have faced breast cancer and ties a pink ribbon around a bouquet of hope, strength, faith, courage and support.  Their perseverance is an inspiration to me. Through flowers and butterflies I hope these images and words of encouragement bring comfort and some joy as we fight to find a cure."

Riley Blake Designs has partnered with the Brest Cancer Research Foundation by  donating $10,000 regardless of the sales of this collection to assist in breast cancer research. Personally, I will donate 50% of the revenue from sales of the pattern, Irish Stars from my Etsy shop from now until October 31st to Karmanos Cancer Center in SouthEast Michigan.

Almost every family that I know has been touched in some way or another by breast cancer.  My family has been touched more than once.  The quilt that I made using Hope in Bloom, is called Irish Stars and it will be gifted to a dear friend who lost her mother to breast cancer 20 years ago.

Katherine has included wonderful words of hope, interlocking pink ribbons, beautiful flowers, butterflies, and terrific gingham blenders in this. collection.

In my version of Irish Stars using Hope in Bloom, I primarily used the word prints, interlocking pink ribbons, and butterfly prints.  In order to make the stars pop I mixed in two of the coordinating pink solids.

Be sure to following both Riley Blake Designs and myself on Instagram for more photos of this project.

Riley Blake Project Tour - Christmas at Buttermilk Acres

I am so happy to announce that I have joined the Riley Blake Project Tour team.

My first project for Riley Blake Designs was using Christmas at Buttermilk Acres by Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin Design Co.

I designed this fun modern twist on a churn dash quilt.  I concentrated on the reds, greens, creams, and a dash of grey using a practical grey background.

It was so much fun designing and sewing this modern Christmas Quilt.  With little ones in the house, a grey background makes this practical.  The background also makes the collection pop!  And of course, I can't forget to mention the amazing vintage Santa's in the center of each block!!!

The pattern, Churnconomy, is currently available in my Etsy shop.  Click HERE to go to the pattern.

You can see the official Riley Blake Blog posting HERE.

Stay tuned for further details to be announced soon for the pattern release.
Until next time ... Happy Sewing!

Farmgirls Unite Blog Tour - Sneak Peak of Box full of Stars

Poppie Cotton is releasing a pretty and fun fabric collection this month called Farmgirls Unite.  The collection reminds me of bandana prints and prairie dresses.

Wednesday, May 19, 2021 is my turn on the tour and here's a little sneak peak at my pattern which will be released featuring the collection.  The new pattern will be available next week in my Etsy shop and is called A Box Full of stars.  The fun thing about this pattern is that is multiple patterns in one pattern.

Here's the first version of a Box Full of Stars which uses a combination of various other Poppie Cotton fabrics:

Here's a look at what's coming next week using Farmgirls Unite:

Check back next week to see Box Full of Stars in Farmgirls Unite.
