The beginning and a Mini Quilt Pattern

I have not blogged in three years so please bear with me.  I this is my new blog as a quilter...So, here goes nothing...

All In
A 16 inch Square Mini

Did you happen to see the mini quilt I made for the Instagram #gagaforgeeseminiswap?  I used Moda Bella White 97 and Corey Yoder's SunDrops fabric for my version.  If you would like to make this simply elegant mini here is the pattern.

I recommend pressing and starching your fabric first before cutting and read through the instructions before you begin.
Sew pieces right sides together and use scant 1/4 inch seams.

Material and Cutting:

Fabric A - (your background) cut (24) - 2 7/8 inch squares.  To be used to make your flying geese. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each square.
Fabric B - (8) - 2 1/2 inch squares
Fabric C - (8) - 2 1/2 inch squares
Fabric D - (1) -  5 1/4 inch square to be used to make your inner square of flying geese
Fabric E - (2) - 5 1/4 inch squares to be used to make your middle square of flying geese
Fabric F - (3) - 5 1/4 inch squares to be used to make your outer square of flying geese
Batting - 18 inch square
Backing 19 inch square
Binding - 2 1/2 inches by 84 inches (2 width of fabrics strips joined in your preferred method)

Flying Geese:

Use the marked 2 7/8 inch squares and each of the 5 1/4 inch squares from Fabrics D, E, and F to make your flying geese.  I prefer to use  the 4 at a time /no waste method -  From Sharon Holland Design's no-waste Flying Geese unit.  You should have 4 flying geese of Fabric D, 8 flying geese of Fabric E and 12 flying geese of fabric F.  Each unit should measure at 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches unfinished.

Assembly:

Use a large cutting board, table top or the floor and place your fabric as shown in the photo.
Begin assembling your mini by sewing together the center four patch and work your way out.

Sandwich your mini top, batting and backing and quilt as desired and sew on your binding.  Ta Da!  Hang and enjoy or send it to a quilty friend.

If you make a version of this mini - I would love to see it please tag me on Instagram #neverlandstitches.
