Riley Blake Project Tour - Our House Quilt

Today's Riley Blake Project tour is all about Celebrate with Hershey's Valentine Day.

First, I have a confession … I cannot resist some good chocolate. Hershey Kisses have so many fond memories for me from using them to make Peanut Butter Blossom cookies at Christmas, placing pastel foil wrapped kisses in my children’s Easter baskets, to keeping a candy dish filled with them on the entertainment unit during the month of February.

The newest Celebrate with Hershey collection is filled with silver sparkle kisses, X’s and O’s. It has a yummy palette of fuchsia, chocolate brown, pink, silver, purple, and white.

I decided to make a Hershey Kisses filled village using my quilt pattern Our House. Using Pink Hearts as the background and Taffy Bee Cross Stitch made this explosion of sweetness.

I also made an alternate version of the quilt using Poppie Cotton's House and Home Collection.

If you’s like to make your own version of Our House, the pattern is available in my Etsy shop. Our House makes for a fun quilt to snuggle with your favorite person or to gift to a new home owner.  the pattern includes alternate layouts and sizes.

This busy grandma is off to snuggle with my version of this quilt and a few grands.

RBD - At First Sight - Project Tour Plaid Stars Quilt

 Hi Makers!

I am so happy to share with you this very soft and romantic project, Plaid Stars Quilt.

The quilt was created using the stunning new collection by Dani Mogstad, At First Sight. This romantic collection has a color palette of seafoam, blush, cream, pine, black, and coral. The fabric prints include florals, gemstone hearts, vines, strips, plaid, blossoms, and circles.

I chose to use the seafoam, blush, coral, pine, cream and a little pop of black.

Using the dark and light versions of various prints created an interesting plaid affect with stars intermixed in the plaid and White Sparkler cotton as the background. The quilt was backed with some baby pink kisses.

If you’s like to make your own version of Plaid Stars, the pattern is available in my Etsy shop. Plaid Stars makes for a fun quilt to snuggle with your favorite person.

This busy grandma is off to snuggle with my version of this quilt, my favorite two month old and two year old girls. Here's hoping the two year old will take a nap before mommy and daddy get home.

Riley Blake Project Tour - Wildwood Wander and StarMazed

Hi Makers! Is Lisa Jo of Neverlandstiches back to share with you an interesting new quilt made with a stunning new collection by Katherine Lenius, Wildwood Wander.

Wildwood Wander is a fabric collection based on a walk through nature and the little treasures you might find along your walk such as rocks, seeds, leaves, birds, wildflowers and mushrooms. The rich color palette consists of cream, blue, taupe, green, taffy, peach, navy, and rose. To me, this collection and palette is a fun new twist on a wonderful new autumn collection.

StarMazed is an interesting new quilt pattern, which creates a maze through the prints of Wildwood Wander to the sawtooth stars made using Marsala Dapple Dot. Marsala Dapple Dot was also used to back the quilt and bind it. I also used both Bee Cross Stitch On Cloud Pebble along with Blossom Tone-On-Tone Cream as background fabrics to give the quilt some additional depth. If you's like to make your own version of StarMazed, the pattern is available in my Etsy shop. StarMazed makes for a fun quilt to snuggle with your favorite person little or big to see if you can make your way from top to bottom of the maze.

I am off to snuggle my version of this quilt and my favorite one year old and see if she will take a nap before mommy and daddy get home from work.

Riley Blake Blog Tour - Emma - Quadrille Dance Quilt

 Hi Makers!

I am excited to share with you a new quilt made with a lovely new fabric collection. Emma was designed by Rachel Erickson of Citrus & Mint Designs The collection was inspired by the move Emma which was inspired by the novel by Jane Austen. This wonderful collection is a celebration of all this Jane Austen with fancy balls, walks in the garden, Georgian Era decor and stunning empire-wasted gowns. This inspired floral prints, swallows, ditzy prints with a sprinkle of tiny flowers, couples dancing, houses, and birdcages. These prints are done in dreamy color palette of honey, cream, mint, rose, pink and yellow.

The Quadrille Dance Quilt was inspired by the ballroom dance of the era in which Emma takes place. The dance was fashionable in ballrooms during the 1800’s for four couples to dance in square formation. It was actually the predecessor of the American Square Dance. The blocks attempt to mimic the movements of the couples as they dance. Placed together it’s as if you are on the balcony of the ballroom watching all the groups of couple dance.

I chose to use the house ditzy, main and birdcage prints in mint, rose, cream and pink. To give the quilt some added dimension fr the ballroom floor I used Vintage White Kisses as the background fabric and borders with Shades in Tutu. In addition to make this quilt ready to snuggle under during the winter months and watch a Jane Austen inspired movie I used two layers of batting.

The Quadrille Dance Quilt is available in my Etsy Shop if you’d like to make your own version.

Pixie Noel 2 - Wrangie's Christmas Adventure

Hi Makers!  It's Lisa Jo of Neverlandstitches back again with my little buddy Wrangie and another holiday adventure.

Wrangie's Christmas adventure was made using Tasha Noel's new Christmas Collection, Pixie Noel 2.  I am a complete fan girl of any collection that Tasha Noel designs, but Pixie Noel and Pixie Noel 2 hold a special place in my heart as the fabric collection was inspired by a sweet collection of vintage Christmas pixies that had belonged to Tasha's grandmother.  I happen to had inherited one of the felt versions of this mischievous and whimsical little pixies from my grandmother.

Pixie Noel 2 features some fun and whimsical prints in aqua, green, pink, red.  Since this collection is so whimsical and and I thought it was perfect for Wrangie's Christmas Adventure.   This time Wrangie has crashed through a pile of Christmas tree bulbs and gifts. This mishap has sending everything flying all around.

Wrangie's Christmas Adventure is available in my Etsy Shop if you'd like to make your own version.

Riley Blake Project Tour - Christmas Village & Crossed Stars Quilt

Hi Makers!  I am ready to start my Christmas sewing a little bit early this year.

I had the privilege of being able to work with Katherine Lenius' new Christmas collection, Christmas Village

Christmas village is based on Katherine's memory of helping set the her mom's little magical Christmas Village and the memories of that wonderful little world and fond Christmas memories. The collections main fabric is the Village, along with complimentary prints of Snow globes, Pretty Presents, Winter Blooms, trees, windows, snowflakes, & angels. The color pallet includes sea glass, pink, green, denim, red, and off white.

I choose to work with a couple of pink, green, sea glass, and off white prints along with Riley Blake's Shades in Santa as the back ground and backed my quilt in red Blossoms. A scrappy binding of the various prints made for a fun finish.

Crossed Stars is a fun and fast quilt to make with large blocks and no sashing. The pattern is available in my Etsy shop.

Riley Blake Project Tour - Picadilly – Cap’s New Shield

I am back to share with you a fun new collection from Amanda Castor of Material Girl QuiltsPicadilly celebrates summer in America and is named after Amanda’s father’s home on Picadilly Court in Indiana. The collection is of course red, white and blue. It features bandana type prints, gingham, fireworks, orange peal, dots, stars, and strips.

I happen to have a couple of grandsons who are superhero obsessed. There’s one in particular of which they are big fans. Although the eldest is now 13 years old and too cool to admit it, the 7 year old is still can tell you every thing about each superhero and their origins. I will admit that I don’t always pay attention to all the little details, but I do know there was a change. So, I thought that as a birthday gift it would be fun for the 7 year old to have a quilt with Grandma’s idea of a new shield for his hero.

So here is Cap’s New Shield…

This is a fun and quick quilt to make. It looks tricky, but it is all about twists and turns while placing the blocks. The pattern will be available soon in my Etsy shop if you’d like to make one for someone special in your life.

 Hi Makers!

I am back again to share with you a fun and mischievous new quilt series. The first in the series features the whimsical new collection by Teresa Kogot, Halloween Whimsy.

The collection, Halloween Whimsy is all about the mischievous spirit of Halloween with witches, cats, pumpkins, stars, stripes, and crows. The color palette of green, black, parchment and of course orange are perfect for any fun spooky project. All of these bewitching prints made for the perfect fabric collection to introduce this new little mischievous guy named Wrangie.

The quilt pattern is perfect to highlight the various whimsical prints in the collection as each pumpkin and leaf features multiple prints.

Riley Blake Blog Tour - On The Wind - Box Kites Quilt

Hi Makers! It's Lisa Jo from Neverlandstitches, back again to share a new memory and quilt with you. March always makes me think of going with my dad to buy a kite at the toy store next to my grandfather's Pharmacy, assembling it and then flying it on our street. The trees were much smaller then as the neighborhood was new at the time. This memory was the inspiration for the quilt pattern, Box Kites, and  Jill Finley of Jillily Studio's new collection On The Wind is perfect for this quilt.

One the Wind features beautiful denims, greens, yellows, corals, blushes, and whites. The prints are kites, children playing, the wind blowing, dandelions, pinwheels, paper air planes, and argyle.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is onthewind_lisjogirodat_boxkites2-1024x745.jpeg

I decided that I would feature the wind, pinwheels, kites and dandelions for the binding. I absolutely adore how these fabrics look. It makes me want to take my grands to the store to get kites, but them together and then go to the neighborhood park and fly the kites.

Pre-machine binding being sewn on, here's a peak at the fun Bee's Crossstich fabric I selected to use to back the quilt. Also, a close up of the fun quilting, which almost looks like kites.

The pattern for Box Kites is available in my Etsy Shop, if you'd like to make a version for yourself or someone special in your life.

Reflections – Thistle Stars Remix

I'd like to share with you a remix of one of my favorite patterns, Thistle Stars. This quilt sitting in my garden along with the bitter cold temps and remaining snow is giving me a case of Spring Fever.

I am the type of maker that once I have made one pattern, I very rarely will ever remake that same pattern again as there are so many ideas in my artistic brain and only so much time.

When I saw Reflections by Lauren Brewer Designs, I knew that I needed to make a new version my Thistle Stars Quilt.

Just to make things interesting, I decided to mix it up by eliminating the sashing, adding 3 rounds of borders, and then binding the quilt with my favorite fabrics from the collection.

Eliminating the sashing creating a very interesting secondary block and I am a sucker for a quilt with a secondary block design.

The collection, Reflections, has beautiful floral prints in yellow, teal, parchment, pink, green, red, navy and seafoam. Along with the four floral prints, there is a darling clover leaf blender and a a sweet cherry print.

I had fun playing with the pinks, navy blues, teal, parchment and a dash of yellow.

I also thought that the florals and the pinks looked very pretty with these antiques.

Until next time…I hope you always find something around you that inspires creativity…
